Some very straight talk about those fractious siblings, Judaism, Christianity and Islam...but caveat lector: all the memoirs are highly suspect.

I've never been on a cruise, and now I'm of two minds whether I should go! I promise I would choose the cultural sites over the shopping, but I might take a photo of the empty ocean where the Titanic sank. I also think I own a pair of orange capris... oops!

I searched out your site because I recently listened to your Modern Scholar lectures series titled "The Quest", and found it fascinating. I am a Christian, what some would term fundamentalist because I do believe in the inerrancy of the Bible and the need to stay as close to its teachings as possible in living my daily life. However, I also seek to learn how man's studies and ponderings can illuminate Biblical teachings, times and peoples, as well as support (or not) its historical content and claims about itself. I'm interested as well in learning more about Islam, given its impact in the world both in historical and modern times. I'm looking forward to delving more into your site and investigating your books as well. Thank you for sharing your scholarship and musings on life!

"on the road to Damascus". Your writing gives one a way of seeing the men of the scripture and the way of the people with another perspective. As we've lived in times so busy and full of people so we read with the same vision, we travel with groups and never visualize the simplicity. I do enjoy your wonderful sense of humor and sense of humanity. Okra is delicious and i learned to love it from my German-"American" ;~) grandmother.

How many times i have read this...a few. Taking for granted my freedom to visit the traditional places,(granted) with a group to be herded here and there, so to take this little trip with you was very enjoyable, as well as mind opening, Thank You again for the shared experience.

I noticed, when i listened to the C.D.'s of the 3 religions, how F.E.Peters has made a very complex study into something we can all understand. Thank you.

This is great reading but I resent the implication that I stole Air Saudia's cutlery. It was forced on me by the stewardess!
